"ALL THE PARENTS UNDERSTAND": TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR JAMES BLAKE MOOTS FAMILY TIME WAS BEHIND NOVAK DJOKOVIC'S MIAMI OPEN WITHDRAWAL

Miami Open director James Blake has expressed regret over Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic's decision not to participate in the competition. Djokovic, 36, recently announced via a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that he will miss the upcoming Miami Open in order to prioritize spending more time with his family.

"Hi Miami! Unfortunately, I won’t be playing the @MiamiOpen this year. At this stage of my career, I’m balancing my private and professional schedule. I’m sorry that I won’t experience some of the best and most passionate fans in the world. I’m looking forward to competing in Miami in the future!" Djokovic wrote in his post on social media.

In response to Djokovic's announcement, Blake expressed that the legendary tennis player will be missed for not taking part in the event, but he also stated that parents can understand the decision.

" You will be missed champion. But all the parents understand how important time with the family is. Best wishes and see you next year here at @MiamiOpen," Blake wrote.

Djokovic recently participated in the ATP 1000 event in Indian Wells, where he was eliminated from the competition after losing in the round of 32 to Italy’s Luca Nardi with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
